Slept in this morning, choosing to memorialize things by not setting the alarm to go off at all.

(I did, however, wake up and sit right up in bed thinking that I was late. It took a few seconds for me to remember that I had the day off.)

After sleeping in, I did some of what is becoming a very tedious amount of S upkeep. Deep conditioning, exfoliating, hair masques, face masques, moisturizing of the face, body and feet, teeth whitening, eyebrow trimming, nail filing … Am feeling a touch high maintenance as of late. (And no, I did not do ALL of that today. I have a schedule! You just THINK I’m joking.)

Ok, seriously, does anyone really notice if you curl your eyelashes? Because I try and try, but I am missing the gene that enables me to use an eyelash curler correctly.

Went to lunch with Good Friend and B. That was bad bad bad. I’m supposed to be staying away. Will do better next time, I promise.

Good Friend annoyed me a touch because she brought up the fact that her whole family thinks she should marry B. I suppose she wouldn’t have done this had I actually told her that I had a minor B relapse, so I shouldn’t be mad. But still.

Did a bit of shopping. Bought Sex and the City Season 3, because it is by far my favorite and it was on sale.

I almost got into a wreck this afternoon while trying to drive and open my newly purchased Rob Thomas CD. Fortunately, I was able to maintain control of the car. This is good, as I would not be able to live down the shame of having been in a wreck because I couldn’t get my ROB THOMAS CD open. (I already have to live with the knowledge that I purchased said Rob Thomas CD in the first place, which I realize yanks me from the MTV demographic and plants me firmly in the VH1 demographic. I am sort of okay with this, as all of those damn Real World kids on MTV just make me feel old.)

Saw “Crash” tonight. (It was one of only, like, five movies playing in the whole damn city. I swear, we have at least five damn movie theatres in this city and nothing but “Star Wars” and “Madagascar” as far as the eye can see.) The movie was okay. In case you crazy dating kids were planning on bringing a date, well, don’t. Because somehow I think talking about the prevalence of racism and sexism in America isn’t the best topic for post-movie dinner and drinks. (Hey, maybe you LIKE racial slurs on your dates. Who knows.)

Now me, my moisturizing booties, my night cream and my teeth whitener are going to bed.

I slept in this morning too - but the difference between you and I is that I had a class and 2 meetings all before 11am, and I managed to sleep through them all.

I also bought the Rob Thomas CD the other day - I liked maybe half of the songs, but the others were a little disappointing. I’m not familiar with the cultural distinction between MTV and VH1 (I’m an Aussie), but I say forget the non-believers, Rob Thomas is great.

I loved Crash. As for date movies — maybe not a first date!

I have all the seasons of Sex and the City and I’d have to agree that Season 3 is my favorite too.

Glad you had a good day.

“Upkeep”…is…difficult, I know. Also, I know that I notice a huge difference when I use an eyelash curler. How are you doing it? I usually-put the curler at the base of top lash, press down for seconds, and then repeat. After that, apply coat of mascara…then after a few minutes, curl again…MY EYES LOOK HUGE…it’s great. :)

Curler woes got you down? Try warming the curler up a bit with your hairdryer before you curl them. Not too much cause you don’t want to fry your eyelids, but just *warm*. Then apply mascara immediately afterwards.

Sorry you were the girl who cried at the bar. I’ve been there, done that - had more witnesses. In fact, entered the “Woman who cried at the bar relocation project” shortly thereafter and MOVED. Now I only drunk-dial people’s voice mail and attempt to leave witty, unintelligible, slurred messages in the middle of the night.

By the way… thought you should know that two weeks ago I declared “ME” week - (a week ‘or so’ of time dedicated only to your personal upkeep, maintenance and beautification). Of course, week being used loosely. Glad to know you’re exercising your ME muscles & spa’ing away……

kallun — Most people here think of VH1 as being for people who are getting older and not quite hip enough to hang with the MTV crew and their popular music. Switching from MTV to VH1 just means you’re less cool. Or something like that. I was also somewhat disappointed with the Rob Thomas CD, although I’m thinking it may grow on me.

DCG — Yeah, not a first date movie at all. “So, what was your favorite stereotype?” I don’t think so.

Jess — Season 3 is the best. I just watched Charlotte’s wedding. Sigh. I still cry when Carrie and Aidan break up. I am a dork.

GFI — I think I’m trying too hard. I close the curler on the base of the top lash, roll it upward a bit and follow with mascara. And nothing. I think my lashes are just too stubby. Sigh.

K — I will have to try heating up the curler a bit. Couldn’t hurt, right?

Sex and The City 3 was a brilliant season. I love that show and I’m still gutted that it’s finished!

8. ~jess~ - June 1, 2005

I usually cry in the episode where Aidan tells Carrie that she makes him really happy… that’s what I always used to say to guys because I felt awkward saying love, even when they did.

And I always cry in the episode where they lay together on the floor in the other apartment, after she tells him she can’t marry him. That turns me into a basketcase.

Oh No! #1: Press your [top] lashes with the curler, but don’t move it or slide it. Then, after a couple seconds, release, move it a few millimeters and press again. Repeat up to 4 presses. Although, many people find one press at the bottom is enough. Unless I misunderstood you.

Oh No! #2: I’ve been favoring VH1 over MTV for years!

the one when Carrie and Aidan break up for good is one of my favorites too…

I also like the one when they decide to get back together - when Aidan yells “You broke my heart!”

And I like the one when Carrie meets Aleksandr… but not because of that part - i love watching Charlotte be inspired by Elizabeth Taylor and Miranda and Steve figuring out that they love each other.

Quite agreed.
