No more shopping for me November 18, 2007

My night out in my new boots was fun but uneventful. I did get to wear a cute new dress that has been hanging in my closet begging for a turn out for weeks and weeks. I’ve decided that I’ll wear it again for The Bride’s bachelorette party and also for my birthday. (Whereas my holiday dress (plus camisole) will be suitable for work Christmas party and Christmas Eve Mass and (sans camisole) New Year’s Eve and The Bride’s rehearsal dinner.)
The boots are comfortable, though I think a gel insert would make them perfect. They’re from Bandolino, black with a wedge heel. They’re synthetic material, which isn’t what I wanted, but they fit both of my calves and after trying on at least twenty different kinds of knee boots, I decided that beggars can’t be choosers – especially when the boots are on sale. You can tell from the picture, but these slip on boots work some well because there is a six-inch zipper at the ankle that helps you lead your foot into the shoe.

I also found a new black everyday purse. I’m back to Kathy Van Zeeland. I scored an on-sale black “Royal Treatment” satchel. (Like the one below. Except, you know, only in black, which makes the crown print subtle.) It has plenty of pockets so I won’t keep losing my Blackberry and keys at the bottom of my purse. And I loved my last Kathy Van Zeeland purse so much that I started carrying it again when the straps on one of my newer purses broke.

Also bought Eat Pray Love for a relaxing more than 10-hour car drive with my parents over the river and through the woods to brother’s house. I also plan on loading up my iPod with enough songs to keep me sane – heavy on Dave Matthews, Billy Joel, Pat Green and maybe some light Britney Spears for good measure.
Thsoe boots look pretty sexy, but I’m surprised that they’re comfortable. I also hear so-so things about Eat, Pray, Love — that it really is a book about nothing.
I’ve been wanting to get my hands on that book for a while.
That’s what I love about boots, is generally, since they lack straps and other things to rub the wrong way, as long as you have good ball-of-the-foot cushioning they’ll be pretty comfortable.
I love finding good purchases!
That book is awesome!! Well, at least for me…….. I related to it so well, it could have been ME that wrote it. In fact, I nicknamed myself “Groceries”! You’ll understand once you read it. And Richard from Texas…………ahhhhhhhhh! Wish we all had one of him in our lives. Anyway, hope you enjoy it as much as I did!!
The boots + Billy Joel = make me want to make out with you, possibly even moreso than your stellar writing. If they have those boots in brown, mama knows just how she’s spending her lunch hour.
I’m still reading Eat Pray Love. It just hasn’t done it for me. Marcy if you want my copy I’ll send it to you. My Mom works at a library and said there are 200 people on the waiting list for it.
Cute boots! I just bought that book last weekend and now I’m reading all these comments saying it’s not so hot. What the hell? Oprah raved about it. But Oprah often raves about things I do not understand so maybe this is just a life lesson. Do not always listen to Oprah.
Wow, “no more shopping” is a lofty goal to make in late November. My Christmas shopping every year is twice as expensive as it really should be because I’m a one-for-you, one-for-me kinda girl.
I just started reading Eat, Pray, Love for my book club. So far, so good.
Girls, the thing about Elizabeth Gilbert is that she’s really a much better fiction writer than nonfiction writer, it’s just that only a few people know it. Her book “Pilgrims” is really great. I heartily recommend it to you all.
As for the no shopping, isn’t Friday official “Buy Nothing” day?
I don’t know what I’m doing here. I came here accidentally.
Anyway. I’m just saying.
Um, “Girls”?
I turn 28 in a month …
Glad you enjoyed your night out in the new boots. Nothing like a little shoe shopping to brighten a girl’s day. And I think you can still call yourself a “girl” at this age… you’re still in your 20s, right? : )
Eat Pray Love may be our book group’s next, but now for sure is Rise and Shine by Anna Quindlen. I read the post and I don’t know why I’m thinking Zepplin, Your time is gonna come!
Well, I adored, cherished, relished Eat, Pray, Love - long before Oprah started raving about it. I read it multiple times, pretty soon after the first reading, even. I hope you love it…
PS: I’m loving you doing the NaBloPoMo thing! Keep it up!
