Short post because I’m tired and cranky April 21, 2008

I am not ashamed to admit that I just downloaded “Little Miss Obsessive” by Ashlee Simpson … I’m just not telling anyone other than, you know, the people who read my blog.
I’ll put it in my secret “embarrassing” playlist, right after “Low” by Flo Rida and “I Don’t Like Your Girlfriend” by Avril Lavinge.
I’m not ashamed to admit that… I heard our local Classical station Jazz DJ tell me the other week that Oscar Brown Jr. recorded ‘Bid ‘em in’ ’sometime in the ’50’s’ and I immediately turned to my wife and said: ‘No, that’s impossible!’ It’s not that I immediately knew that his first album, “Sin and Soul…And Then Some’ was done in 1960, and that the song poem was taken from it. It was that I knew that no one would have published such an incendiary piece in the mid 50’s. No blogs way back then, so you actually had to convince someone to put out the money to actually cut your records. Or carry your tapes with you from place to place and find someone who would publish the music in some form.
But to tell you what a multi faceted genius the man (Oscar Brown) was, that first album “Sin and Soul…And Then Some’ would go on to inspire literally 100’s of famous versions of his original compositions that would be heard and played for the subsequent decades & until this day. Just amazing. But that bit? ‘Bid ‘em in’, you just rarely hear it. I think I’ve heard it played maybe a half dozen times, and it’s always pretty chilling. It’s embarrassing for all the right reasons too.
Cheers & Good Luck! ‘VJ’
Hahahaha… I have some CRAZY songs on my MP3 player.
The new and leaked Madonna album is just as… shameful.
… I guess I want to say “dont worry”.
Kisses.
I’m pretty sure that half of my iTunes Library could be listed under “I can’t believe I own this, and know all the words”.
I just downloaded Jesse McCartney’s new single Leavin. You definitely are not alone. I really think everyone has the same “embarrassing” music tastes
The other day a friend was on my computer in my room, and from my position in the kitchen I could hear her screech “Hannah Montana! What is this doing here?!”
And that Flo Rida song is ADDICTIVE. It’s like auditory crack.
For the record, there is nothing wrong with guilty pleasure music. I am totally going to download the new Mariah Carey album.
Ha. My playlist is named “Guilty Pleasures.”
I only have one thing to say:
“Shawty got them Apple Bottom jeans ( jeans!) boot with da fuuuur ( with da fuuur) ”
*Coughs*
It’s all good. We all have our random songs. I have random bands. I’m too excited about the NKOTB reunion!
I definitely downloaded some aly and aj recently…
embarrassed? maybe a little… but i cant help that I’M A GIRL AND I RELATE TO EMOTIONAL GIRLY SONGS.
(but I’m still a confessed feminist and thoroughly independent, ha)
Haha! No reason to be ashamed! I would definitely add it too!
I’m with Amber and CAN’T WAIT for the new NKOTB songs. Which I can’t decide is a guiltier pleasure, because they’re now well beyond acceptable boy band age, or less guilty because at least they’re from my own generation.
And oh, I get low, low, low when getting ready and that song comes on the radio. I’m pretty sure they pump addictive fumes through the airwaves with that one.
outta my head by ashlee simpson is also very good! lol
I always guard my ipod…not because I’m so afraid anyone will steal it, but because of what my playlist reveals. There’s no shame in Ashley!!!
well you should be.
Well I don’t know who Flo’Rida is (mental note to self: visit mtv.com in an effort to become more hip) BUT I love the Avril and Ashlee songs. So we can just be embarassed together. Hmph!
Hahaha…I was thinking the same thing today as I replayed Miley Cyrus over and over during my run.
I have been obsessed with that Ashlee song too. Shhh!
I listen to Britney before I go out.
For real.
Now downloading Ashlee
Umm I got the whole CD from my boss, yeah it’s in my car right now and I’ve listened to it every day since last Tuesday. But don’t tell anyone
Don’t forget Misery Business by Paramore
i’m so glad i’m not the only one out there with a secret “embarrassing” playlist. when i’m talking to people who are really into music i feel like i need to admit to my problem, like aa or something. or get “YES, I LIKE BAD MUSIC” sticker or tattoo.
