I see a trip to Sephora in my future July 13, 2008

Things that make summer awesome:

  • Lounging around near the water with friends, fresh food and cold beers;
  • Awesome flowy sundresses;
  • Flip flops;
  • Sunshine until 8 p.m.

Things that make summer suck:

  • Forgetting to bring your make up bag inside from your car and returning to find your makeup and brushes coated with a light slimy layer of lipgloss because your MAC palette melted into a shiny soup of gunk.

I had a tin of Smith’s Rosebud Salve in my makeup bag… in the car, as well. And like you, had the unfortunate experience of cleaning off greasy, rose scented makeup brushes, eyeliner pencils and even a toothbrush. Gross!

Ugh, God I hate that! Mine was my Cargo palette but still. I switched to lip gloss in a tube with a wand. I love the MAC lip plumpers. My favourite is Oversexed.

That’s the worst! Worse than the brushes (washable) is the fact that all your makeup is ruined. Was is a cream blush palette?

If you lived in Southern California I’d go with you to MAC, I get 40% off.

I’m not a lady, but I can appreciate a nice flowy sundress. There’s just something about them that is cute, sassy, and simply attractive.

Never dealt with the make up issue, but that does sound terribly annoying at the very least.

Man. If I had a nickel for every time that’s happened to me….

Concur on the sundresses, though. You enjoy wearing them and we enjoy your wearing them. It’s like kismet.

6. Mandy - July 14, 2008

That DOES suck.

7. nicalyse - July 14, 2008

Oh, no! Goopy brushes are NO good. But hey, you now have an excuse to hit Sephora.

Also, summer dresses make my life.

8. geekhiker - July 14, 2008

Apparently I will never have to worry about summer sucking. I love being a guy. ;)

9. irunwithscissors - July 14, 2008

Ugh! I hate when that happens!

10. Therapeutic Ramblings - July 14, 2008

Sun Dresses…….*DROOL*.

11. Alexandreena - July 15, 2008

Any reason to go to Sephora is a good one. You should be happy the palette melted.

12. Yoda - July 15, 2008

Summer has a way of making my underarms fuzzy WAYY too quickly.

13. Kimmers - July 15, 2008

I have been there so I totally sympathize - BUT - I’m seeing the Sephora trip as an unexpected silver lining. :)

14. missetiquette - July 16, 2008

I completely agree with you about the dresses, flip-flops, and sunshine. As for the make-up, while that’s never happened to me, anything that leads to a Sephora trip can’t be a bad thing.

15. gunnlino - July 16, 2008

As for the make up, you use it every day, you’re an adult you should know that, when heated make up melts, don’t leave it in the car. I’ll bet you wouldn’t “forget” and leave your dog in the car.
Get a grip, geez.

16. carmen - July 17, 2008

I couldn’t agree more!

17. Smilf - July 17, 2008

OH bitter. I hate when makeup melts!
But any excuse to go to Sephora is a good one in my book. : )

18. Rachel - July 18, 2008

I hate that too…sometimes I put my make-up on, on the way to work, and I always have to remember to take my bag inside with me, so it doesn’t melt.

19. natalie - July 18, 2008

been there… multiple times. you would think i would learn a lesson… but no. consider it an excuse to go makeup shopping!

20. aussie-chick - July 19, 2008

what’s “gunnlimo’s” problem?? Please, oh please, I know this sounds old fashioned, but if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all, we really really don’t need your negative energy on this darling blog. bring on summer indeed, and floaty dresses rock my world.

21. Shasta - July 19, 2008

Ugh! That really sucks! Thankfully all I use is Bare Minerals and the Buxoms are in that lovely tube. But…you get to go shopping for more makeup! YAY!

22. susel - July 20, 2008

ohhh that sucks! melted makeup is not a good summer surprise

23. Felish - July 20, 2008

Melted makeup = bad, but any excuse to go to Sephora- alright by me!

24. magickat - July 27, 2008

Oh my GOD! Both parts - so soooo true!

25. Gotham Girl - August 13, 2008

OH, these are so true! Especially ‘ leaving the make up bag in the car’ part. You don’t know how many times I have done this and how many tubes of lipstick I have ruined by leaving my make up in my car…
